Splashback has arrived

Had a quick wander through whilst tradies were on site today installing the air conditioning control panel and thermostat. The kitchen splashback has been installed. The colour is java dusk. I also took a few pictures of the scotia trim around the kitchen benches for those who were interested in seeing this. They also put this scotia at the places where the floor level changed to wet areas. ie toilet, bathroom, laundry. I'm still a bit disappointed by it's appearance, but at least they colour matched the trim to the brushbox floor.

Gerflor

Had a quick look this afternoon to see our gerflor flooring. This took 2 days work as we had
the entire house done in these planks. No carpet for us due to lessons learned from sick kids and indoor pets. I was a bit disappointed to see a scotia trim around the kitchen cabinets. I guess I won't "see" it after a few days of living in the house.
We've also had our flyscreens installed and the portaloo is gone. That thing was really starting to pong. We can also see lots of blue masking tape inside and out. We know we are getting close to the end even though our SS won't give us that elusive date!!
Our back yard is an absolute mess, very wet. MDJ do a great job cleaning up the front yard but they ignore the back yard. We still have blue frames (roof battens?) in the backyard. I don't think I can put them in the garbage bin and the council will not pick them up so MDJ better take em away! I don't want them!!

House has been cleaned

Dropped by for a few minutes today. We couldn't walk too far down the side as the ground was very wet and muddy from the downpour yesterday. The clay had only just started to dry out from the last storm a few weeks ago. Oh well.

We could see that the tiler had returned to finish off the tiling on our front porch and alfresco. The house has been cleaned, possibly this morning, as there were footprints in the sand near the garage. Even though the inside has been "cleaned", there is mud on the floor and walls. There were also some very noticeable hand prints on the walls. Mud on the walls, what the heck?

Our SS has advised that flooring and shower screens will go in sometime this week. Maybe he will call us soon to arrange PCI date. Fingers crossed.

Taps, toilets and shelving

Today we met a landscaper on site to give a few ideas and costing for retaining walls and driveway. While we were waiting for him I had plenty of time to look inside the house. The plumber was just finishing up. He has installed all our taps, toilets and shower rails. Everything is starting to look very nice.
Yesterday our air conditioning was installed, although they have not done the control panel yet. On the weekend there was a lovely man here who did all of the shelving for the pantry, the shelf and rails for the wardrobes. I forgot to look in the linen cupboard so hopefully that was done too. We had an extra wardrobe installed in the master bedroom (where the dressing table is) but there is no railing or shelf in there. MDJ charged us alot of money for this wardrobe so we expected a rail inside. We will be asking about this. Lesson learned here..don't assume.
My partner had a chat to our SS this morning trying to get a date from him. You know the date we all want to hear. He's still not committing to an exact date, but, he expects we will have hand over by mid December, possibly even end of November. Yay.

Bench tops done

Last night we had a look through our windows. Our kitchen bench tops are installed and I can see the note on the wall where the splash back goes so I know they've measured the space for the splashback. The sink is in as well. We could also see our bathroom basins were installed. Our alfreso area has been screeded, just waiting for tiles. Earlier in the week the "smart" wiring was done for our data points, the TV wall mounting bracket installed and the TV aerial is on the roof. Painting has also been finished. It's getting close to the finish line!!! I still can't get any decent photos, all I can get is a reflection of my hands. Grrr.

Tiling Complete ?

Last week our tiling was completed, according to the SMS we received from MDJ. I can see that they haven't actually finished tiling!!! They haven't finished the tiling on the front porch. I'm not sure why it has been left this way, maybe it has something to do with the horrendous rain we had (over 70 mm in 3 hours). Update, they ran out of sand.
Our painters were back on Saturday so we haven't had a chance to look through our windows. We just can't bring ourselves to walk in or look through windows when someone is on site. It feels wrong.
We also received progress claim #5. Only one more payment to go!!!
I wish I knew what was on the agenda for this week. It's been so much fun to see things happen every week and now I can't see a thing. I really want to get inside again.

Kitchen and laundry cabinets

I was able to get a quick look through the house this afternoon with our fantastic site supervisor to see the progress. The second stage of waterproofing was done yesterday as well as cabinetry delivery. Today our kitchen and laundry cabinets were installed. It's starting to look like a home. Bring on the tiles!!! Delivery tomorrow, hopefully.

Painting started

Such a busy week.  We are locked out so can only go on what we can see through the windows. All of our architraves and internal doors, including wardrobe and pantry doors are installed. The first coat of paint has been done too. The water tank plumbing has been completed also. I tried to take some photos through the windows but there was too much reflection from this beautiful sunny day.

Garage Door

Garage door installed today. The colour is "dune" and matches with our window frames and fascia. Our front door will be painted this colour as well.

Cornices Up

Such a disappointing week. The only work completed was the cornices which took less than a day. The pile of leftover gyprock in front of the garage was also removed. Our gate was even left unlocked.
At least there is something happening today. It's down pipe day.

Electrical Walk Through

We had our electrical walk through today and met our new site supervisor. Everything "electrical" appears to be in the correct position, although we forgot to check our rear outdoor lights due to us not photocopying the plan properly.

In the last week we have had our eaves completed in the front porch and rear alfresco. Our shower niche boxes are in and the articulation joints in the brickwork have been sealed. We also had our water tank delivered. There is a big wad of insulation batts in our garage waiting to be installed tomorrow.

We also arranged for a frame inspection by H K Ryan and, as expected, there is nothing "major" that would cause concern.

Bricks Cleaned

Bricks were cleaned today. Eaves were completed last Friday.

Yard Clean Up

We received the official sms from MDJ today saying that the roof was complete and electrical rough in will begin soon. I drove by this afternoon and noticed that the front yard had been tidied up.
